Why am
I posting so early, you ask? Because I have been at the
research center (yeah, still here!) all night logging some new
code my algorithm program spat back at me when I input in
fresh data from that stupid Sunken Valley region of our forest
grid. I don't know what the heck is going on over there, but
it sure is making my computers go ballistic. Ok, enough
typing, I'm going to go catch some Zzzzz........ |

Just a quick
moment of silence for the anniversary of the Twin Towers disaster. United we stand, ya'll - support our troops and put
out your flags today! |

Dewey,
man, I know you read this. You're a cool bro and yes I know I
mentioned that I kinda like your Forests
of Mystery web series and everything,
but dude keeps your hands off my stuff! The communications
center has a lot of delicate equipment, any one of which would
cost more then you make in a year to replace. So I say again:
No touchy! |

There's some
sort of anniversary coming up that Jessica has been reminding me
about. Just kiddin' babe! I know you read this. Don't worry, I got you
something special to celebrate our two years of dating. I even
remember the song we danced to. Next Friday, be ready to wear those
high heels and that red dress. :-) |

Yo, it's my
mom's birthday today and I got her one of those singing cards. Here's
my gripe for the day - why can't I ever find a card that farts at you
or screams like a banshee? That'll wake the old mum up. Or maybe a
card the has some little video clip inside or something that
squirts some sort of odor at you when you open it. that'd be
cool. I should be in the card business. |

We've
recently started to grid out the forest around the research
center and I've been setting up monitoring systems at various
points of interest within. Grid sections D-12 and E-16, which
are both located near the Corts Foundation Trust land, have
been giving off some particularly odd readings recently.
Great, more overtime for me as I double and triple-check my
layout to make sure it's not a screw-up on my end.

Doc
Kelly told us
last night that he's bringing in some dude from Spain sometime in the
not so distant future. Gag me. Just what I need, some new guy breathing down my neck
while I work and touching my equipment. Next year will be my fourth
year at the center but I guarantee that kind of seniority
isn't going to mean squat to some specialist quack from
another country. Something I have to look forward to for a
whole 350+ days now. Thanks, Doc. |

I talked to
a couple of local communications guys the other day about cell towers, and I think
I might
actually be able to pull off my idea for remote access high
speed internet here in the Pacific Northwest. Brittany, a
fellow team member at the Cascade
Forest Research Center, is the sister of Stephens
Logging general manager Brian Stephens. Brian says he might be able to swing
a sweetheart deal for some selective clear-cutting around the hard to
reach areas necessary for tower placement. I'll post more on this when
some additional questions are answered. Very cool stuff!. |

Dude,
why the heck am
I stuck here at the research center in the middle of the night on
Easter running soil
samples? Oh yeah, because Doc Kelly is an obsessed egghead. Oh well,
at least I've got Eddie to keep me company. The guy ROCKS the
guitar. |

So, I'm
not usually one to go back on my word or anything, but I have
to address Dewey's little video series just a little bit. For
those of you that aren't from around here, Pacific Cascade
University is a small college and word travels fast about
strange happenings. I caught wind of the lab assistant who got
hurt from a sample collected out this way and I have to say
that maybe there really is something going on out here... I
try to keep my nose out of everything that isn't tech related,
but some of the stuff Doc Kelly and Dalton have been bringing
in from the field have started to make me question whether or
not Dewey might really be on to something with his Forests
of Mystery website. But Dewey, man, I still don't entirely
approve of what you're doing and as far as everyone else here
goes I know nothing of your little 'video case
files'. |

Well
Jessica and I had a great time on our vacation, but as soon as
we got back I was again knee deep in work - what with the odd
readings the field equipment has been bringing in lately.
Dalton, the forest ecology team leader here at the Cascade
Forest Research Center, is acting all giddy like this is
going to get him a science prize or his name in a paper or
something. Phooey I say - all these new anomalies are taking
me away from all other aspects of my life. Well, back to work
I go! |

Dude,
as of a few hours ago we have a new president! That crowd in
Washington DC looked insane - almost makes me glad that I'm
working away in the quietness of the Oregon Coast Range. I
couple of things I wanted to mention in this blog. 1) Dewey,
again I know you read this and I've seen your "Forests of
Mystery" website. Seriously, you are asking to get
lectured by Dr. Kelly, but I'm gonna let it slide because you
help me out with the tech stuff here at the center and I like
you. 2) Jessica I know you read this too and I am really
looking forward to our vacation this next week! Love you lots
and see you tonight. |

Merry
Christmas, plus a day! Amazingly, I did not have to report in
yesterday at the center, so Jessica and I spent Christmas Eve
into yesterday at a nice little coastal B&B for some well
deserved R&R. Today though it's back to
work and I'm actually kind of glad because some weird field
measurements have been popping up over the past few months and
they have been getting steadily more frequent. Plus the
monitoring cameras towards the furthest areas of our grid have
been acting up, and it takes practically all day to drive out
that way and reset them. Fortunately, I can allot that type of
mundane task to our team assistants Dewey and Jeff.
Nevertheless, lots to do today - but enough with my boring
description of work - HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! |

It's
two weeks exactly until Thanksgiving, and it's looking like I
might have to spend the Holiday at the research center AGAIN.
Jessica, you could bring me a turkey sandwich if you want,
hint hint. At least Dalton and Brittany get to go into Vernonia
for her family's big dinner celebration. I shouldn't have lost
that bet earlier, otherwise it would be them sitting here
monitoring the fungus tests and not yours truly. Maybe I'll
get lucky and they'll spore before turkey day. |

site today and I'm smacking down the first blog entry. Yeah baby - more to
come. A shout out to my pals Dalton, Brittany and Jessica. I love ya
babe. |
